NOTE    If we only use the first 17 verses of Exodus                                       20 as all of God's commandments,

                               then we are throwing out what Jesus teaches !!

                    Jesus said,

                    "you shall love your neighbor as yourself."

                    this is the 2nd greatest commandment 

                    (Mt 22:39).

     The people had seen the miracles the Lord did to deliver His people from the hand of the Egyptians ,and witnessed His great power.
   
     They sinned greatly by making a golden calf and worshiping it, instead of worshiping their Deliverer.
